Community invited to annual Memorial Day service

The local Memorial Day service draws a crowd each year. This is a photo from last year's gathering where Osakis resident and military veteran Don Moore was the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend. Feel free to bring a chair and sit back and take in the service and music.

During the long holiday weekend, be sure to take time to honor our country's fallen men and women of the military.

On Monday, May 27, the annual Osakis Memorial Day Service is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Osakis.

Just before the service, at 10:30 a.m., the popular Memorial Day parade will set out from Park Osagi and travel east along Lake Street to the cemetery. Representatives from the Osakis VFW and Auxiliary Honor Guard, Osakis School Marching Band, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies will take part in the parade.

During the service, Pastor Tim Sutton of First Presbyterian Church of Osakis will be the guest speaker and provide the invocation and benediction.

The Gordon Men's Choir will also perform during Monday's service.

In the event of inclement weather, services will be held at Osakis Public School.
