On Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the Osakis Country Club, the first Bob Sinotte (B.S.) Open was held in honor of Bob Sinotte, who passed away in February 2015 from cancer.

Organizers provided the Osakis Review with a recap of the event last week.

He was very active in the Osakis area and especially at the Osakis Country Club. He was a member for more than 30 years and served on the board at the golf course.

The B.S. Open included a “fun” nine-hole scramble tournament. The two-person teams were required to make some of their shots in unusual ways, including teeing off with a Dixie Cup as a tee, and putting with a croquet mallet.

There also was a bean bag tournament for those not playing golf.

A silent auction with more than 40 items was held, along with a free-will offering lunch available.

The proceeds of the tournament, donations, silent auction items and the lunch amounted to more than $9,000, which was donated to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research Fund.

Helping to coordinate the event were Karen Sinotte and Julie Didier.

Tournament hole sponsors included VFW Post 7092 in Osakis, Corner Medical, Hensley Trucking, Osakis Liquor Store, Jerry Gay, Darrel Nelson, Bryan Withers, Betty Weick, Linda Sinotte, Carol Sinotte, Gordy Berthiaume, Chad and Stephanie Muehlenhardt, Jack Holder, Kip Emerson, Dan Thieschafer and Karen Sinotte.

The second annual B.S. Open is scheduled for Saturday, August 27 at the Osakis Country Club.
