Todd County 4-H hosts awards program

The 2016 Todd County 4-H Achievement Program was held Nov. 20 at the Browerville Community Center. More than 150 area organizations, businesses and individuals sponsored numerous awards to deserving 4-H'ers and their leaders.

The Osakis Review has published the awards list in three separate stories. This is part three.

Award winners are:

Natural Science Awards sponsored by VFW Post 1140, Long Prairie; Seip Drug, Bertha; Hoe and Hope Garden Club, Clarissa; the Pratt Family (in memory of Arthur and Patricia Pratt), Clarissa; Josh's Auto Body, Josh Brichacek, Browerville; and Gary Stracek Construction, Gary and Rita Stracek, Browerville; were awarded to: Indoor Gardening Champion - Natalie Fisk, Lone Star; Indoor Gardening Reserve Champion - Yasmine Crowe, Burtrum Boosters; Flower Gardening Champion - Raquel Crowe, Burtrum Boosters; Flower Gardening Reserve Champion - Raquel Crowe, Burtrum Boosters; Vegetable Gardening Champion - Yasmine Crowe, Burtrum Boosters; Vegetable Gardening Reserve Champion - Lawrence Mettler, Burtrum Boosters; Fruit Champion - Lynnea Maus, West Union Country Kids; and Fruit Reserve Champion - Raquel Crowe, Burtrum Boosters.

Star Bank of Eagle Bend sponsored potato awards which were presented to Lawrence Mettler, Burtrum Boosters, and Jasiah Paskewitz, A-1.

Seip Drug of Bertha sponsored the Fishing and Shooting Sports Awards. Recipient of the Fishing Sports Award was Nicolas Claseman, Wykeham Willing Workers, and Rachel Halbersma, Hustlin Rustics received the Shooting Sports Award.

Eagle Valley Custom Meats, Eagle Bend, sponsored the Tractor Awards - recipients of these awards was Jake Klim, Hustlin Rustics, and Jason Trantina, A-1.

Shop Awards were sponsored by Josh's Auto Body, Josh Brichacek, Browerville. Recipients of these awards were: Darcey Hayes, Burtrum Boosters, and Rebecca Berscheit, Golden Gophers.

The Rodney Wolf Memorial Award sponsored by Daniel and Carolyn Wolf is presented to a younger 4-H'er exhibiting a colored breed dairy animal. Recipient of the 2016 Award was Haylie Wielenberg, Wykeham Willing Workers.

2016 State Fair Dairy Exhibitors received dairy awards sponsored by Seip Drug, Bertha, and Pro Ag Farmers Coop, Browerville/Parkers Prairie. Receiving these awards were: Jasiah Paskewitz, A-1, and Heather Hulinsky, Burtrum Boosters.

Todd County DHIA, MBC Drainage LLC, David and Jane Bailey, Sauk Centre, and Todd County Veterinary Clinic, Clarissa, and Long Prairie Veterinary Clinic, Long Prairie, sponsored the following dairy awards: Grand Champion Dairy Exhibit - Parker Gjerstad, Hustlin Rustics; Reserve Champion Dairy Exhibit - Parker Gjerstad, Hustlin Rustics; Champion Brown Swiss - Wyatt Lenz, Lone Star; Champion Guernsey - Zachary Lenz, Lone Star; Champion Holstein - Parker Gjerstad, Hustlin Rustics; Champion Jersey - Hailey Wielenberg, Wykeham Willing Workers; Champion Milking Shorthorn - Parker Gjerstad, Hustlin Rustics; Champion Crossbred - Rachel Paskewitz, A-1, and Junior Champion Dairy Animal - Marcus Kunerth, Wykeham Willing Workers.

The Outstanding 4-H Club Officer Awards, sponsored by the Todd County 4-H Leaders Council, were presented to: Treasurer - Jaran Roste, West Union Country Kids, and Secretary - Jacy Roste, West Union Country Kids.

Allen Hoelscher Insurance/County Financial, Allen Hoelscher and Marty Host, Browerville sponsored the coveted Key Award which went to Laura Sauer, Golden Gophers.

A graduation certificate and a 4-H momento, sponsored by the Todd County 4-H Leaders Council, were presented to nine 4-H'ers graduating from 4-H this year. Receiving these were: Laura Becker, Independent 4-H'er; Rachel Halbersma, Hustlin Rustics; Amber Hlatky, Wykeham Willing Workers; Alex Lunemann, Hustlin Rustics; Karina Perish, A-1, Taylor Perryman, Independent 4-H'er; Derek Pratt, Hustlin Rustics; Katie Rohr, Golden Gophers; and Jana Roste, West Union Country Kids.

Browerville Hardware, Browerville, and Country Cat, Sauk Centre, provided door prizes for the Annual 4-H Achievement Program.
