Wreaths were placed at the Osakis Armed Forces Memorial two years ago for all branches of the service and for prisoners of war. (Osakis Review file photo)

The Osakis VFW Post is once again participating in the Wreaths Across America program to place wreaths at the graves of veterans at local cemeteries.

The post is asking residents to support the program by sponsoring a wreath.

The VFW ordered a total of 285 wreaths to cover all veteran headstones at the following cemeteries — Calvary, Evergreen, West Evergreen, Lakeside, Gordon/Pleasant Hill.

At this point, only 75 wreaths have been purchased and the deadline for ordering the wreaths is Saturday, Dec. 1

Wreaths cost $15. Make checks payable to Wreath Across America. Checks can be dropped off at VFW Post 7902 or mailed to Osakis VFW Post 7902, Cassie Mead, P.O. Box 278, Osakis, MN 56360.

Those who purchase a wreath may designate a specific grave where it will be placed.

For more information, contact Cassie at osakisvfw@gmail.com or call Bonnie at 703-477-6868

The local "Wreaths Across America" wreath laying ceremony will take place Saturday, Dec. 15, starting at noon at the Osakis Armed Forces Memorial, followed by 12:20 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 1 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery and 1:40 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
