Dec. 5, 1918
Two Osakis boys die in France. Jerry C. Mann of this city received a telegram this week from his sister telling of the death of their brother, Perry Mann, killed in action in France. Also, sad news reached Osakis from the parents of Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Jacobson that their son, Walter G. Jacobson, had been killed in action in France on Sept. 29.
Local Red Cross Branch complimented. The Osakis Red Cross Branch is one of the most prosperous Red Cross organizations in the Northern Division. At the beginning of its fiscal year, the branch had $2,696 in its treasury, having raised $6,370.

Free movies. The stores of the village will be open for the Christmas season each evening until 9 p.m. from Dec. 16, through Dec. 23. On Dec. 24, stores will close at 4 p.m. Free movies, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will be shown at the Empress Theatre.
Christmas cards to servicemen. The VFW Auxiliary is again sending Christmas cards to overseas servicemen from this area. Please send or call their addresses to the VFW in Osakis. New administrator. Mrs. Evelyn Graff has been appointed as the new administrator of the Community Memorial Home. She replaces Mrs. Esther Thornquist, who passed away recently.

Local store burglarized. Spur Convenience store on east Highway 27 in Osakis was burglarized sometime on the evening of Nov. 28. Owner Paul Hartmann went into work to find that someone had broken in through the back door of the building and stolen an undetermined amount of cash and a portable phone.
Dancers Christmas tour. More than 100 dancers will tap their way into Osakis as Dancin' Off Broadway of Alexandria performs their first Christmas tour. The tour will stop in five towns.

Sailing event brings national attention to Osakis. Iceboats filled the shores of city bay on Lake Osakis Friday afternoon as ice sailors from throughout the United States and even some other countries came to take part in the Great Western Challenge Regatta.
Driver dies in crash. A one-car accident near Osakis, in rural Todd County claimed the life of an Osakis man. The Osakis Fire Department and Osakis First Responders responded to the crash on County Road 4.
Remodel makes 105-year-old bank look new. First National Bank of Osakis has nearly completed a complete facelift and interior remodel of its building on Central Avenue.
